"I have greatly missed my Finnilates classes during the Covid pandemic. I started around two years ago now, and I am so glad I did. I remember having a conversation with a friend regarding my injuries and their impact upon not only my day to day life, but the affect it was having on my ability to enjoy playing sport.I spoke with Fionnuala about my back pain, sciatica, my restricted movements and the onset of arthritis. Although I had initial reservations about what could be done through pilates, my back pain has nearly disappeared, my sciatica has gone, I have greater mobility ( I can now touch my toes !!) whereas before I was lucky to get my hands down to my upper calves and the range of exercises we discussed regarding my arthritis has really helped strengthen muscles I require in combating arthritis. Our classes have now moved on to a higher level, which I really enjoy, new exercises are introduced to keep us moving forward and further strengthen not only our core muscles but our range of movement. We have introduced some cardio workouts to our classes which I really enjoy. 
Fionnuala is very attentive to all in her class, has a knowledge of each and every individual and their needs to enable her to gauge the best exercises to do that will benefit that person.

"Hard work, yet great fun, an excellent Pilates workout with like-minded people, willing to share moans, groans and laughter. I had a dodgy back, hip and shoulder, now I am almost a new woman, posture still needs work and my 'Speck' needs to go, but hey, one step at the time. Finn is an amazing and very caring teacher, who continuously broadens her horizon through specialist training. She really understands each individual and their requirements and tailors her classes, both mat and reformer, accordingly. I love the fact that Finn keeps her classes small, as it gives everyone more one to one time, meaning we can reach our goals a lot quicker. Since the Covid lockdown I have been doing the Zoom mat pilates class. The classes are friendly, professional and Fionnuala gives specific attention to all the Zoomers. "I joined Finnilates as a beginner, knowing nothing about it, what to wear, what to bring etc. I had been unwell for a couple of years and was recovering from major bowel surgery. The whole class were completely new to Pilates, so everything was explained slowly and fully for us to grasp the basic concepts and principles of the practice.

I desperately needed some form of exercise that would gently restore my physical strength, which was non-existent, when I signed up and to restore the confidence that I’d lost after years of pain and discomfort. To begin with I wasn’t able to lift my own body off the mat! I also suffered with severe tennis elbow at the time. I was a wreck!

With absolute professionalism, patience and kindness Fionnuala has restored me to complete physical wellness. The other participants in the classes, some familiar from the beginning, others new, are all wonderful, kind and supportive people who I now treasure as true friends.

Fionnuala has an angelic grace that in itself is healing, the physical practice of Pilates comes naturally to her personality and I’ve loved every class I’ve taken. In almost 3 years now, no two classes have ever been the same, so it never gets boring. I can work at my own pace and love the light-hearted chat which is all part of the joyful nature of the classes. Fionnuala is always mindful of any injuries and often tailors the class to include specific stretches for these, which we all benefit from.

"I started Zoom Mat Classes with Finnilates during lockdown when I couldn't access my normal gym. I was a little nervous at first because I don't usually go for pilates. "Finn is an extremely experienced and competent Pilates teacher. I approached Finn almost 6 months ago (via recommendation of another friend) and was initially apprehensive of starting reformer Pliates. Finn made me very comfortable in the very first meeting with her knowledge and approach of Pilates. I was given time to talk through my objective of joining the class along with my concerns. I have a bad neck and hence get severe shoulder pains, so must be extra careful with any exercise. Finn gave me the confidence to join her classes and ensured that my exercises never aggravated my existing condition.

 Besides being a competent and empathetic teacher, Finn takes interest in your daily lifestyle and gives you regular hints and tips to maximise personal results. I have found that working under Finn’s guidance, I have got better results and have stayed focussed and committed to doing Pilates 3 times a week!

Finn’s classes are a pleasure and I’ve had many personal trainers and attended several classes before, but Finn stands out as a lovely, compassionate, caring and focussed trainer who gets joy in seeing her trainees achieve the results for themselves.

 I would gladly recommend Finn’s classes to anyone who is either starting on Pilates or is advanced and wants to improve their technique!

“I had always wanted to join a Pilates Class, but I was never 100% convinced this was suitable for me. I am glad I waited because joining Finn's Finnilates has completely changed my life. Ever since joining, I feel stronger, it has improved my posture and has helped me with my other workouts (cycling/walking etc). The core is such an important part of a person's body and Finn has made sure we work hard to develop our strengths and better our weaknesses. “I couldn’t recommend Finnilates enough. I have had problems with my back since having kids and the doctor kept telling me to take up Pilates. I eventually got the message and started with Finn on her first block of classes. Whilst she was nervous to begin with, she took time with each of us and discussed what we wanted to get out of Pilates and how we could work together to benefit. Now, not only has my back improved, along with my posture (no more stressed neck), I have loved taking two hours a week for myself.

You enter the studio and it’s all about you, she asks after you and how you’ve been doing. She watches each movement and tells you how to improve it and she pushes you to where she knows it will benefit - never pushing too far. 

I have loved the zoom classes but really can’t wait to get back to the real thing for the banter. As for getting back to the reformer classes, I need something to burn off all the calories I have managed to ingest!

She is an excellent Pilates teacher who continues to provide the highest quality classes, during these challenging times.  She is always positive and encouraging and able to adapt her sessions to the needs of the individual.
